History
“Rancho Sutivan,” formerly “Estancia Rio Grande” and later known as the Alonso Sawmill, is one of the largest Patagonian sawmillsof the beginning of 20 century, worked by the family of the same name.
The company began as a livestock farm in an area of 9,000, which is located in theRiesco Island, third largest island in Chile.
The geographic location makes the property have characteristics of foothills with access to mountain watersheds and mountain ranges of Riesco Island, Alacalufes Forest Reserve and the coastal area of Otway Sound; this gives a clear strategic and potential development of tourism, because of the feasibility of access to places of great geographical and biological interest.
In 2006, they decided to diversify livestock production activities and began to work in the tourist area. We currently have an accommodation capacity for 21 passengers.
The farm is available to tourists who visit it; we have rural tourism where the visitor has the exclusive opportunity to explore the place and choose their daily activities; the company has the flexibility to adapt to the needs of their passengers. Additionally, we offer Navigation, Hiking, Horseback Tours, Observation of native fauna, and bird watching.
